Spinners love to make yarn—that’s just a fact. But unless we like hanging skeins on the wall, or wearing them around our necks, that handspun yarn cries out to become something more than a skein. If you haven’t already tried weaving, or you want to explore further, this collection will help your handspun achieve its potential.

We start with projects for the inkle loom, then move to rigid heddle weaving, and close with more unusual techniques, such as twined weaving on a simple frame, soumak, and tapestry weaving. The less-expensive looms used in these projects don’t require all the paraphernalia of table and floor looms; you’ll be able to make do with simple household objects if you don’t already own specialized equipment. Simplicity, affordability, and beauty are the keys to this collection.

Our authors also supply helpful tips on spinning for smaller looms. (For further reading, check out Spin.Off Presents: Spin to Weave, which contains articles on spinning techniques and projects for more than 2 shafts.) So there’s no reason to put off weaving any longer. Your handspun will thank you.

Happy spinning (and weaving)!
